Thoughts about: Aspartame

Here’s a selection of your thoughts about this month’s topic.

What do you think?

I shall keep buying

25.02.2008

Love your message "think before u drink" seen on www.whatreallyhappened.com! Consider all the information and links you give on Aspartame (a product you don't use in your drinks) should be replicated for flouride (another product you apparently don\''t use in your drinks). Well done! I shall keep buying.

No Aspartame register?!

01.02.2008

Thanks for raising this issue further, what concerns me is where do we go with a consumer complaint about aspartame? Our food safety authority will defend Coca Cola with their life, is there a register of people who have been affected by this poison????? I doubt it. Even the young woman in Wellington had her case dismissed by the food authority despite verification from her own doctor.

Phoenix replies:
We've been exploring this and find that, outrageously, there is indeed no register. The Ministry of Health could not provide any direction on it, or advise whether there was any known intention to form one. So we are looking into keeping a register ourselves. In the meantime please feel free to write to us with any symptoms you have had of Aspartame poisoning.

Top marks

Top marks on your ad. Love the think before you drink campaign. Bring on more of this advertising. Cheers!

Thank you Phoenix

Many people in New Zealand don't realise that if a pregnant woman takes in aspartame, especially on a regular basis, her baby's brain may be permanently affected, not to mention the potential effects on her brain. People have to know this! It is so frustrating that our Food Safety Authority wants to defend their pro-aspartame stance without really looking at the science and the controversial history of this addictive carcinogenic neurotoxin which is now in so many of our foods. Thank you Phoenix for adopting this campaign. Sign our anti-aspartame petition which you can download from our website. Alison White Safe Food Campaign.

Saying it like it is...

04.01.2008

Aspartame is poison.

Now I can sleep

04.01.2008

I went to listen to Abbie Cormack talk about how she got so sick from chewing gum, at first I was sceptical but after hearing her evidence i have stopped chewing gum and drinking sugar free V. Now I sleep, I can concentrate and my skin has improved. This campaign needs to go international. Aspartame is poison.

Be aware

27.12.2007

I spent 2 years getting serious dizzy spells and headaches - went to the doctor and then to a specialist - they couldn't help me. Finally, after research on the internet I realised it was aspartame in chewing gum and the likes of listerine tabs that was causing my problems. Since then I have become very aware of artificial sweetener in things like dental floss, toothpaste, smoked cheese slices, coleslaw, gingerbeer, wine etc......The experts refused to believe this was the problem but after cutting out all the above I have reduced my severe dizzy spells and headaches.

The sooner the better

24.12.2007

So very happy more and more people are becoming aware that this poison is in our food and drinks. I became very sick a few years back consuming smints. It is in all the chewing gums too, not just soft drink. I even found it in a packet of chips which seems just nuts to me. Thanks Phoenix for bringing this information to the public. The sooner it is out of our food and drink the better.

I applaud your efforts

As an American and a former victim of this sanctioned poisoning I applaud your efforts . Thank you for being the great example of what a business should be.

YAHOO!

24.12.2007

YAHOOOOOOOOOOO a drink company who tells the truth. Only realised what that aspartame stuff was when I heard that girl who got ill from chewing gum. Now I read all labels, no coke zero in my place and no migraines!

I agree with you - let's settle the issue beyond doubt

21.12.2007

When you read the reports about aspartame I find it hard to believe that our government and its food 'safety' agency continues to believe lock, stock and barrell, the industry line that this stuff is safe. With all the doubts that have been raised at the least the government should commission someone to undertake independent research to settle the issue beyond doubt.

I commend you Phoenix

21.12.2007

This is a most commendable initiative by Phoenix. I have been furious about this carcinogenic excito-toxin being in our food & drink for the last seven years or more. It's very pleasing that this serious health threat is now beginning to be exposed and Phoenix's stance on this poison will be a most valuable contribution to the campaign for its ultimate removal from our shop shelves. Well done!
